# How to add YouTube videos to request descriptions

> Embed a YouTube video in a request description using the slash insert menu.

You can embed a **YouTube** video in a request **description** so teammates and customers can watch it on the request detail page.

## Where to edit the description

* **New request:** open **New Request** and use the **Add details** field
* **Existing request:** open the request, then edit the description

## Add a YouTube video

1. Click in the description field where you want the video
2. Type `/` to open the insert menu
3. Choose **YouTube**
4. When prompted, paste a YouTube URL or video ID, for example:
   * `https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID`
   * `https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID`
   * or just the 11-character video ID
5. Confirm — the video embed appears in the description
6. Save the request (or finish editing the description)

## Tips

* Use a full watch URL or `youtu.be` link when possible
* If an embed looks broken (no video), delete it and add the YouTube item again
* Portal **list** cards do not play videos; the embed shows on the **request detail** page
