# Browse portal members and their activity

> Find portal members, add profiles, and review how customers engage with feedback.

Portal members are the end users connected to your feedback portal. Use the Members directory to look them up and understand engagement—separate from **Settings → Team**.

## Open Members

1. Sign in at [app.projectecho.io](https://app.projectecho.io).
2. Select **Members** in the sidebar.
3. Use **Search members…** to find someone by name or email.

## Add a member manually

1. Select **New Member**.
2. Enter any of: **First name**, **Last name**, **Email**, **External user id**.
3. Save. All fields are optional, but email or an external user id makes matching easier later.

Manual profiles are useful when you want a record before someone votes, or when you reconcile support conversations with feedback.

## How members usually appear

Members often arrive through your product when you embed Project Echo or pass an external user id. Those identities help attribute votes, comments, and submissions on `https://YOURSUBDOMAIN.projectecho.io`.

## What to look for

* Who is submitting or voting most actively
* Contact details for follow-up interviews
* Whether a vocal requester is already a known customer in your systems (via external user id)

## Remember the distinction

* **Members** (sidebar) = portal end users
* **Settings → Team** = internal teammates with staff-app access

If someone needs to triage requests or edit settings, invite them as a team member—not only as a portal member.
